The Good Doctor

We were treated to the awful Doctor Kelmer on Sunday evening. He did give clever Bobby a chance to shine, though.

Wouldn't you like to give that psychologist a good slap for messing Bobby around?
"Are one of these her?" Ouch! Bobby would never use such appalling grammar! Those damn ignorant scriptwriters.

*Sigh*. No other comment necessary, nor even possible.

Cold Comfort

I'm doing this at school so I'm using pictures I already have on Photobucket - I'll capture something new tonight.

Happy Wednesday.

Indian Head Massage

OK, so as a supply teacher, I'm paid by the day. In most schools they work you to death for your money, with break and lunch duties, and never a free period. Not here - where possible you get the free periods the person you're covering gets. And then, once per half term, the Headteacher pays for a lovely lady to come in and give Indian Head Massage to staff. There are not always enough places for the number of people who want it done, but today, a large number of staff and students are out of school on trips. So I have just managed to have a massage, and I am deliciously relaxed, with only 3 students in the classroom, all happily working (ie.playing) on computers.

And for this they are paying me!

Inert Dwarf 4

I think the young woman in this scene is extremely beautiful. It would be great fun if Detective Goren had a fling with her.

Cruel Irony

So there I was, covering for a teacher who was at the dentist's, and some lower being (definitely not a higher one) decided to take the word literally, and at Break one of my teeth BROKE. Quick phone call to the Dentist - "He's on holiday till next week. Phone the emergency service." Which turns out to begin at 6pm. But I get a number from there to phone my local health authority, where a helpful young man gave me a list of dentists who are still accepting National Health Service (NHS) patients. One was quite close to where I am working, so I gave them a call, expecting an appointment three weeks come Thursday. NO! Today at 3.45. (Most of these conversations took place walking to the classroom, letting the kids into the classroom, or inside the classroom, on a mobile phone which kids are banned from using.) They are quite a naughty class, but had been great before Break, so I was optimistic that they would be fine, and they did not let me down.

So here I am with a lip that feels as thick as Vincent's wrist, £350 poorer. The NHS porcelain crown is £180, but there is a selection of better ones, and as the tooth is the first and most visible molar (not to mention the most used) I thought I'd better go for the top end.

Now all I have to do is find the courage to eat with the temporary crown and try not to destroy it in the week before the new one is ready.

Thanks to Linda S.

I received this email from Linda today, and from what she says, I thought she intended you all to share in the news, so here it is:

Vincent D'Onofrio is not leaving LOCI.
And that comes straight from the horse’s mouth. Or at least his rep. Follow this link to Michael Ausiello’s column tidbit concerning the now infamous Aussie article of a very long week ago. http://community.tvguide.com/thread.jspa?threadID=800010256

I tried to send this to you via Blogger and it apparently doesn’t believe that I actually exist. So poo on Blogger.

Michael Ausiello is a rude little troll of a man with an unhealthy obsession with Lauren Graham, but that’s another story altogether.

Linda

And here's the article she's given us the link for:
Despite what Vincent D'Onofrio allegedly told an Aussie publication, the actor insists he does not have one foot out the door at Law & Order: CI.

"I am not leaving Law & Order: Criminal Intent and have every intention of fulfilling my contractual obligations on the show," he said in a statement issued by his rep. "I still find playing the role of Robert Goren interesting and enjoy working with the writers, cast and crew of Criminal Intent."

Once more with feeling, buddy?

This all may be a moot point anyway, since the chances of CI seeing another season are iffy at best. Which brings me to my next question: Would anyone miss it?

Inert Dwarf 3

Photobucket isn't showing me all my pictures again, so I'm just printing a selection from the first half of the episode. Gorgeous Goren is looking fine - and very broad!

If I outbid you...

...then I apologize. I've lost a lot of Vincent items recently, so I was determined to get this one. It cost me $152.50 to win it, though!

Ebay vendor's description.
Do not pass on an amazing opportunity for you to own an article of clothing from the wardrobe of this talented man. This item a gray Hugo Boss shirt, is from his working wardrobe and is tagged by the wardrobe department.
I wish I could get hold of a blue one, though.

Inert Dwarf 2

There are some tasty pictures of Bobby in the opening scenes of this episode - but who decides to put credits over that gorgeous back? THEY SHOULD BE FIRED!

No-one can convince me Vincent doesn't know he has remarkable hands - he shows them off so much - thank goodness!

As I publish I have no idea what these slideshows are going to look like, as they were not showing in the preview window. I hope you all have better luck seeing them.

Early History

I scanned these while doing some work for someone else. The many faces of Val (fortunately none of them too recent!)

My debut on camera was when I was 3 months old.

I think this was taken about a month later. It's my favourite picture of me.

This is me aged about 9 with my mum and dad and my big sister, in the back garden of the house where I was born. It was later pulled down to build modern flats.

In July 1966 I went on a caravan holiday to Hastings with my aunt and uncle. My uncle and I are not looking too happy - the World Cup was on. We came home the day of the final, missing England's glory.

These photo booth pictures cover my student years, though the last one was actually taken for a passport when I was 27. I did go through some hairstyles!

This picture of me with my mum and cousin George (the cousin who has cancer) was taken at the Christening of my cousin June's granddaughters. It was taken in the early 1990s.

Inert Dwarf

We had the pleasure of this episode last night. Bobby was looking VERY fetching. Mind you, we were supposed to believe that he was the owner of this hairy hand
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
when we all know Vincent's hands and arms are remarkably hairfree
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
for such a dark-haired Italian.

It's Goren Groin day, by the way, and though it was only possible to get blurry pictures 'cos he was moving so fast, I thought it was worth it. Lucky Ann Dowd to be plastered over his legs for so many frames of the film.

I'm just about to visit something Linda informed me about - a student's VDO quiz that she's producing as part of a college project (I think the idea is IT rather than VDO as far as the professors are concerned). If ayone else wants to give it a try, go to http://boards.nbc.com/nbc/index.php?showtopic=725415

Wonder if there are any questions about his "endowment?"

Canada 2006

Even though it was nearly 11.30am, no-one was dressed yet. We were still clearing away after the party, and I thought I'd better use my video camera after taking it all that way.

At last -

A Brother's Keeper Slideshow!

Photobucket has not been allowing me to make slideshows for ages. I couldn't even see all my pictures in the slideshow bar. The good folks over there have sorted it for me. I'm so impressed I might even "Go Pro".

Microsoft could learn from such service.

A cat basket made for one...

...but forced to accommodate two.

Jaspa and Shelley almost fit in, but there just wasn't room for Shelley's tail on this day.

Another day, Jaspa's paw and Shelley's chin just couldn't quite make it inside.

School Reunion 2007

David, Richard, Chris and I met in 1964 when we started at Addey and Stanhope School in New Cross, London. It was a Grammar School (ie. selective, you had to pass your 11+ exam to get in), and the only mixed secondary school (11-18) in south London. It was supposed to have been founded in 1715, but since then they have pushed the date further back. Every year the first Thursday in March is celebrated as Founders' Day, and there is a reunion in the school. This year the first Thursday was also the first DAY in March, and seems to have taken people by surprise, so attendance was poor.

All three of these guys have computer expertise, but none of them could help me with my Windows Vista problem!

The school started life as two charity schools which later amalgamated. One founder was George Stanhope, a Dean in the Church of England. The other brought Peter The Great from Russia to learn the art of shipbuilding Below is his entry in Wikipedia.

**John Addey (1550-16 April 1606) was master shipwright at HM Dockyard Deptford in south-east London.
Addey was buried in St Nicholas Church in Deptford and there are plaques to him on the exterior north wall.
He left £200 to the poor of Deptford which was invested in land on Church Street and provided an income to maintain schools (his will also mentioned Londons' Shipwrights Hall). The Addey School was built here in 1821 and enlarged in 1862. It amalgamated with Dean Stanhope's School to form Addey and Stanhope School, and moved to New Cross Road in 1899.**
