Air Conditioning

I've found the answer to the problem of air conditioning contributing to global warming!

Today in Currys.digital (the UK vixens will know what that is) I bought a battery-operated fan with a reservoir for water. The whole thing is about a foot high and can stand on a desk or be held in the hand. You switch it on and then use the trigger to spray yourself periodically. It's bliss!

There are safety warnings on the packaging, but it doesn't say anywhere that you shouldn't use it near electrical equipment...

A Dream To Forget

Sometimes I wake with the feeling I've forgotten a lovely dream. Not this morning. I awoke thinking, "Yuck!"

I was tired out last night after a trawl around some huge garden centres with my friend. I slept the sleep of the just - except for one thing. Instead of dreaming about Vincent, I dreamt about one of his former co-stars - Gary Sinise.

GARY SINISE - DOUBLE YUCK! The short, ugly, wooden non-actor who starred with HIMSELF in That Championship Season and The Impostor.

I don't know why he was in London or what he was filming. I don't know why I was there. I DO remember thinking that if I could get to know him, it might be a route to meeing Vincent, but I couldn't seem to get the subject to arise.

He was interested, and he kept turning up at my side, obviously wanting to chat me up, but resisting because he was married. I kept encouraging him so that I could get on to my favourite subject.
Bizarrely, at one point I was sitting in an audience of some kind, and a few rows behind me was George Clooney. I thought I'd say "Hi" but as I approached he moved away along the row. Then it turned out that my jacket was on the seat beside him, and I was able to tell him that all I wanted was my coat, I wasn't stalking him.
This film was all about Vincent - AND HE WASN'T EVEN IT IT!!!!!!

Perfectly In Proportion

When I was measuring Vincent's inside leg for Diane (on a pair of trousers, not the man, unfortunately) I started to think about men being in proportion.

There are those with legs too short for long bodies. They look like gorillas and their knuckles nearly drag on the ground.

There are those with legs too long for short bodies. My dad was like that. He was of average height, and taller than my mother, when standing, but when he sat down he was quite a bit shorter than her.

Then there are those with legs the right length for their bodies.

Then there's Vincent D'Onofrio.

Woof!

Of course, there are parts of him which are not in proportion, and we are glad about, like his hands and (we hope) his endowment...

Woof, woof!

Lights Out London

Today is the longest day, and Capital Radio in London decided to launch a campaign to have people across the capital switch off all non-essential lights for one hour, from 9pm to 10pm. They are also calling on people to turn off at the mains appliances that are not in use, instead of leaving them on standby. They are hoping to save as much carbon as it would take to run 4,000 cars.

The campaign has been picked up on by the Mayor of London, and also by other towns across the world. Many big businesses are taking part. Let's hope that a huge number of people join in, and that they keep their new habit going in the long term.

Every one of us needs to reduce his/her carbon footprint if we are to have any hope of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and solve the problem of global warming. If we make our next car smaller and less polluting, switch off the air conditioning, turn down the central heating a degree or two in winter - and try to introduce renewable energy to our homes - we might make a difference yet.

Here endeth the first lesson!

Welcome to Kath

Today I discovered that someone I work with is hot for Vincent - and her daughter likes him too! I gave her the blog address, and if she managed to keep hold of it during the madness that is a school day, I hope she will manage to log on. If you're here, Kath - Welcome! These pretty pictures are for you.

And this one is for all the Vincent Vixens...

Charlton

The school I do most of my work in at present is in a place called Charlton. It's part of the London Borough of Greenwich, which is one of the most historic parts of Greater London.

Charlton is best known to most people for its football team, Charlton Athletic. The team used to be welcomed on to the ptich with the song, "When the red, red robin comes bob-bob-bobbing along" - not good for young men's street cred! Their new stadium replaces one of the biggest and most barren football grounds the league ever knew, where a pile of discarded corrugated iron could be mistaken for new toilets.
Charlton House is a Jacobean mansion, built in 1607-12. The exterior is splendid (though the windows are pretty crap), but inside it's been stripped of just about every period feature, and is used for public functions and local council meetings and courses.

Several years ago I saw a programme on TV about a senior member of The Society For Psychical Research (a legitimate ghostbuster) who was trying to test out the stories of ghosts at Charlton House. He spent the night in the Great Hall, in the pitch dark, but with a camera running. Suddenly there was a loud bang. In subdued light we saw a cup, shattered on the floor. It sounded as if it had been thrown down hard and from quite a height, but the pieces were very close together. It was very strange. One of the house's staff was recorded on camera as saying it was not familiar to her.

She was someone I went to school with, and when I next saw her, I asked her about it. The cup had been identified as coming from inside the house, but not from anywhere near where it was smashed. No-one could account for it...

Shoulders and Back

Is it me, or were there fewer shots minus a jacket in Season 6? We want Bobby is shirtsleeves in Season 7! All those in favour, say "YYYEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!"

Mind you, his shoulders and back are equally attractive and sexy whether bare, in t-shirt, jumper or jacket. at least I think so. I'm not biased or anything...
