Welcome to the world of the Vincent D'Onofrio obsessed - and a bit of real life thrown in.

Full Metal Jacket

I've just had to cap this, too. I've watched the film a few times, including showing it to kids in class as an extreme example of bullying, but to sit and deliberately show him being tortured is not easy.

His brilliance in this film takes my breath away every time.

So here we give you Pte Leonard Lawrence, AKA Pte Pyle. (Those of a sensitive disposition may like to miss out the last few pictures, Diane.)

Now I'm sure. He doesn't pluck his eyebrows, but he's had them reduced by electrolysis.
I approve wholeheartedly - don't like big bushy brows that meet in the middle.

Let me just do that for you, babe.

Lots of pretty views of Woolwich Common and the Royal Artillery training grounds.

In some pictures I can see traces of his future role of Davey Baylor.

Saw it once in the cinema when it was first released, but never, EVER again, despite the fact the 'Special Edition' DVD sits on my V-shelf - and I only bought that for the interview with Vincent...which is rather cruelly cut with all those bits from the movie I never, ever wanted to see again in the first place! :0(

Like Diane I saw it at the theater. That was more than enough. It also is in my DVD book bought as Diane for the interview. It's one of those movies that once is enough.

I wonder if this movie is the reason he developed a taste for death scenes?

Everything that has to do with war gives me nightmares. So, like judith, I just look at his lickable nipples.

I have to admit that I only watch the first half of the movie. When he dies, I lose interest in the rest of the film.

This is a great film, but I have to agree, you really only need to see it once. I once sat through a double feature of Apocalypse Now and The Deer Hunter. Don't ask me why. But I am still glad I saw them ... once.

I've only watched the whole film once..and that was the one with the commentary on, because Vincent was still talking. I can't say I like FMJ, but I do find the first half, I don't really know how to put it, compulsive maybe(?) I would put it down to the quality of the acting rather than anything else

I agree with Eliza 100%.....only the first half is worthy. Compulsive is the "word"!!

When I showed this to my older students (15 y/o) I gave them the chance to watch the second half, but they were soon bored. It really might as well have stopped when Pyle died.

Althought we have the DVD, I've only watched it once. It's too painful.

Excellent movie. One of the best Vietnam movies ever. And of course Vincent was so awesome.
