Mad Cap

I'm going to be offline for most of the day, so I just did a rush job of capping some more of Eosphoros (anyone know what that means? It's all Greek to me...)

Nice caps, I am not sure what it means, I thought I knew what Magnificat meant, but I cannot remember.

Magnificat means praise (Verb, 3rd person singular). In the Catholic Church it's the name they give Mary's declaration on discovering she's going to have God's child, and the best musical one, IMHO, is Monteverdi's. Eosphoros is Greek, which I only learnt for 2 weeks!

Well I am not sure what it means, I can check babelfish for you, greek/english translation.

This is what I got off google:

EOSPHOROS and HESPEROS were the gods of the astron planeta (wandering star) Aphrodision, or Venus. The two names described him in his role as dawn-star and evening star: Eosphoros being the "the dawn-bringer" and Hesperos the "of the evening." Sometimes the two were regarded as distinct gods.

In Greek vase-painting Eosphoros was depicted either in the form of a youthful face, shining down from the the heavens, or as a winged god with a starry oreale crowning his head.

Wow, JoJo, thanks!

Now I wonder if anyone can see the relevance of this title to the actual episode!

Bobby's Girl here, I just called my local library as I was only able to come up with Eos as the Greek God of the dawn in my dictionary. I expected the library to have a Greek dictionary or some other erudite tome that would enlighten me. She asked about the context of the word and I told her. She got her info from tv.com(!)looked up loci and they had an explanation similar to JoJo's. She said: Greek name for the morning star, bringer of dawn, name for the planet Venus when it appeared in the morning. As for relevance, I guess the moring and evening - the peros or phoros part may be the contrast between the Christians and the atheists. And April certainly got a "dawn" or realization about what she thought was love from the phys therapist! Then there is the rift in the family over religion. Didn't make anybody look very good or get along! Religion can bring people together or split them apart like night and day. That's my best guess.
