That's Showbiz

Those of us who have reached a certain age will remember this lovely lady, a 1950s female crooner.
Others still will recognise her looking more like this, from her appearances on ER as a woman with dementia.
They may even know that she was married to this man (apparently, twice).
They are less likely to know that this man is their son.
He is Miguel Ferrer, actor, whom I was surprised to see turn up in NCIS Los Angeles this week. Looks a lot like his father, doesn't he? His father Jose Ferrer. Not good looking like his mother, Rosemary Clooney. Nor his uncle, Nick Clooney.
And certainly not like Nick's son, Rosemary's nephew, Miguel's cousin:
Yes, in case you hadn't put it together before, he is George Clooney's cousin.
George is pictured here with his father after his arrest for daring to be on the steps of the Sudanese embassy trying to prevent another humanitarian crisis in Sudan. And just a couple of days after dining with Obama and Cameron, and having Obama's ear in a private meeting about the Sudan situation.
How dare he defy the police like that? What's a few more deaths in Africa as long as they get to throw their weight around?
He may not be as sexy as our Vincent, but Clooney is an all-round good bloke.

Great post, Val! And what an interesting family! Jose Ferrer was my favorite actor when I was a teenager, and I got to meet him after a performance in "Man of La Mancha" one night. I also wrote to him, got a couple of letters back, and even a phone call once! He was a very nice man. Have always admired Miguel and especially George, who uses his celebrity for good instead of merely celebrity.

George is a good guy...He doesn't take his success too seriously and when he believes in something he stands up for it (a lot like Vincent)

PS..I still miss Rosemary Clooney. Her voice was a treasure.

Was'nt she once married to Roger Moore? Or am I mixing her up with someone else?

That's quite the family tree! Yeah, George is definitely a good egg.

Great information. Miguel does look a lot like his father. Even so I would not have put it together. And Ruby that's fantastic that you got to meet Jose, I always thought he was sexy, even as a kid. I did not know that he was married to Rosemary Clooney, but then again her career was a legacy unto itself.
Honestly, it took me a while to warm up to George Clooney(I didn't like him on ER or any of his early romantic comedies). But as he has aged and matured as an actor and statesman I've developed a great deal of respect and admiration for him. And honestly, I would not throw him out of my bed. I might even try to lure him to my bed with cat nip. Wonder if that would work with Vincent? Just a thought.*wink*

Rosemary was a darling in her youth as is her son. Great post, Val. Cheers!!

Judith, that was Dorothy Malone, I think.

Ruby, kudos! That's two degrees of George for you and three for the rest of us.

George sports some nice stubble, and wow was he smoking hot with a pre-annoying J-Lo in "In Plain Sight." As for his politics, I admire anyone who stands up for what they believe; beats apathy any day. The family connection is very interesting; thanks for that.

I knew it was someone..Thanks Ann for clearing that up for me..

Glad you sorted that out, Ann. I thought I'd got the surname wrong, but couldn't be bothered to check. I was leaning towards Maguire this morning.

If it takes a bloomer to get you to comment, I'm going to start putting them in on purpose!

I couldn't actually understand why he was cuffed when all he was doing was STANDING there.....

I have a LOT of time for George; he reminds me of Vincent, in as much as he doesn't take himself too seriously and he's not afraid to stand up for what he believes in.

Just realized I got that movie title wrong -- "Out of Sight." Good book, too.

I even saw it at the cinema, Sixtwosue, and that one passed me by.
