I went on another new laptop search/shopping expedition today. I started at the Apple shop, but failed to be convinced. So I went to John Lewis (a department store) and found a rather splendid Hewlett Packard with webcam, HD and Windows Vista. The salesman was not keen on Vista, says it has lots of bugs, and he had to call over someone else to find how to access the webcam. It had taken this bloke half an hour to locate it. I'd forgotten to bring one of my homemade LOCI DVDs, so I coudn't even find out if the machine would play it.
I decided to go home and get a DVD, then go to my local PC World. They had an apparently identical machine £200 dearer. They don't do exactly the same model. But it was actually a slightly lower spec. But it did play my DVD. So I asked for a deal, to save going back to the other shop (a 34-mile round-trip) and to take advantage of the post-puchase service of the specialist store. £20 off a printer. Whoopee!
So now I have to go back to the other store and buy the one I first thought of!

Why does the BTOH look brown?
Well I've put in a bid, but if it goes any higher than what I bid, I'm bowing out. I'm not gonna get into a last second bidding war and end up spending hundreds of $$ that I don't really have. Still, Wish me luck!!
