A Genius Among Us

You see, this is another reason to love Eliza. She never met a challenge she didn't want to rise to.

She took the calendar pictures I struggled with for hours, unable to separate them into individual pages, and, lo and behold (or, if you prefer thejoke version, low and beholed) here are the individual pages turned into a slideshow.

And here they are in saveable and printable versions. Again, if you don't have the wherewithal to adjust the size to your needs, I can email you A4 size.

Body Worlds Exhibition

First of all, congratulations to Blogger for publishing my pictures in exact reverse order, thus taking away the impact of my post.

Today we took my class to the Body Worlds exhibition at the O2 (the Millennium Dome that was).

Gunther Von Hagens invented the technique of "plastination" to preserve bodies and their parts and use them in displays. There are human and animal bodies in all stages of being stripped down to show their component parts. There are cross sections of parts of the body, showing things like lung cancer and blocked arteries among many other things. It was very interesting, and not nearly as sick-making as this vegetarian feared.

The most amazing item on display was this giraffe.

He split the body in two to reveal the internal organs.

This horse has two riders, and shows various bits of musculature and bone.

This man is carrying his own skin.

This is a pregnant woman with an 8-month baby in her womb.

He displays blood vessels, nerves and any other part of the body you could imagine. There are complete brains, slices of brains, separated hemispheres. You name it, he has preserved and now displays it.
It's amazing. And at least he doesn't have the non-human creatures killed for his art. (It goes without saying he didn't have the humans killed!)
If it comes to an exhibition place near you, you might well enjoy it.
Photos are all from Google.

No Cloud

Just a Silver Lining.

Eames: "Wow, just look at what those Vixens post about you on their blogs!"

Bobby, those trousers are not tight enough.

"Eyes up, ladies. And Snarkangel."

"I can play this fretwork like a fine violin."

I swear he offers us his neck on purpose.

"You better believe it."

How handsome is he here?

Someone really taught you how to stand up staight and not slouch.
And I love it.

Do you think Bobby is regretting his childlessness as he sees the perps driven away?

Calendar 2009

Blank space.

I did a great calendar. Downloaded a free Microsoft Office 2007 programme to which I was entitled because I bought the mother programme. Made my Vincent calendar. Can't upload it to Photobucket 'cos it comes out as one page, not 12 separate pages. Can't upload it to BLogger 'cos it can't cope with the format.

I CAN email it to you sight unseen. Whether you'll be able to download it without Office 2007 I have no idea.

Sorry!

Thank goodness Eliza makes things more accessibly.

Even More Magnificent

Ill or not, Vincent was extremely yummy in this episode, and I could not move on till I'd posted a few more closeups of him.

Magnificent

This is the first time I've posted Magnificat, 'cos I don't much like the episode, and therefore I only just capped it. The husband is so obnoxious I just want to thump him, and I know that just means it's well acted, but even so.

I also think the sentence from the plea bargain is far too harsh for a woman with post-partem depression. It brings me to tears every time.

"I'm travelling incognito."

"Why don't these people let me rest my folder on the desk,
then I wouldn't have to send the Vixens crazy by crossing my leg like this?"

"See, I can fit inside. Just."

See what you do to your shoes by all that crouching down, Bobby?

As if the hands in the pockets were not enough...

...he then has to give us a glimpse of his tubby tum.

Oh, those arms...

...and those curls.

Emotion in every pore.

"Now THAT'S affect."

Actually, too much comment is nearer to the truth.

For some time now, my comment window has been doing weird things - but only on my own computers! If I access my blog at work, everything is fine.

What happens is, the little window appears, but the main page also displays the comments page, stretched wide. Two lots of "do you wish to continue" boxes appear. It also happens to me on other blogs where people have this comments format.

Now that I am not receiving notification of your comments in my email (no idea why, the settings are fine) I find it excessively irritating to have this happen, so I have changed to a comments page.

And what does Blogger have to say about my problems?

The same as they always say - absolutely bloody nothing.

More Vincent in Blue Jeans

And black jeans, too. Yesterday we had the old, here's some of the new.

My Vincent in Blue Jeans

"Then" rather than "now". I would have added some "now" pictures, but I'm running VERY late.

I not only want to touch his hand, now I want to BE his hand!
