Stuff the flowers

All I wanted was for my computer to be collected for repair. And maybe the gift voucher to make up for the expense of the extra phone calls I had to make because of incompetence. The flowers were nice, the chocolates too. But I would have preferred it if the computer had actually been picked up.

It wasn't. When I got home, I called the tech line, and asked if the courier could be diverted there. They called the courier company, and reported back that the courier had called at the address I gave at 1.30, and got no answer, so they left a card.

At 1.30 I was sitting in the living room at the address, just yards from the front door, discussing plans for my student's future. He was in his bedroom - which is next to the front door - with his nurse. None of us heard the doorbell ring ("if there was a doorbell visible they would have rung it") nor the letterbox rattle. The new dog didn't bark. There was no card.

Did they mistake the street for one with a similar name a few miles away? The techie repeatedly quoted the post code, so theoretically, if they fed that into their SatNav, there should have been no possibility of a mistake.

Or did they just lie?

Will we ever know?

The company chairman's office has another angry email in the inbox. So what do you think? More flowers? Or the service I paid for?

I think I told you that the cable TV company pulled that crap when we moved into our house in 1999. Said they were by, no one was home and they left a note. I told them they were lying b/c we had JUST MOVED IN THAT DAY, so besides the garage being wide open w/ 2 vehicles there was also a large moving truck in the driveway, and we were in and out all that day. They didn't care; they insisted they'd been out and no one was home.

The customer is never right anymore.

recently I had to have the internet tech come to the house. I started calling at 1pm, when he was supposed to be there. I called back every half hour and they kept telling me he was in the area and would be there soon.

The tech showed up just after 6pm. He told me he was on his way home and that dispatch had never given him the service call for my house.

I recently had to have my new DVD recorder collected again - this was new in April and this is twice in 6 months it's failed to function. So that I could be here, I arranged with the techy line person that they should call 'After 2pm' as I'd be home from work and there were things I wanted to say before the damn thing was whisked away (again). They promptly arrived at 12.40pm when I wasn't here of course.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a new TV for the kitchen. That didn't work either (I'm not sure yet what I did to piss off the Techno Gods) so they agreed to collect the naff one and deliver a replacement. They were supposed to do this 'After 2pm' as well. The swap took place at 08.40am, but at least I was still at home.

Good luck Val!!!

Is this the trend of service companies? Give you flowers and candy before you get fucked.
