I was just not watching an episode of Starsky and Hutch while capturing images from some LOCI episodes (not watching 'cos it was on but my attention was elsewhere). I wondered if our US friends realised where David Soul is now?
He lives in London and has become a British citizen. No idea why. There was a programme about him a year or two ago from which I learnt that not only did he lose a fortune a couple of times over, when he was a newbie, he actually made a living as a male prostitute.
Mmm. Bit of an old reprobate. And do we care? Not a lot!

No I didn't know. I used to like the dark haired one, but I couldn't say who was Starsky and who was Hutch. In a Season One episode Bobby refers to the Starsky & Hutch car.
Yes, I knew David lived in London and had done so for years. My cousin Diane was a S&H fanatic; she even had her grandmother knit her a "Starsky sweater". She used to audio tape all the S&H shows in the 70's on her tape recorder. Di did a bit of research and apparently on her dad's side (Swedish) there are a bunch of "Solbergs" and David Soul's original name was Solberg, so Di was convinced they were related.

Val, I did not know that. I was a huge Starsky & Hutch fan in the 70's. He certainly has aged. I almost thought it couldn't have been him. Very interesting facts about him. Thanks for sharing.
I didn't know that end of the story--but I do remember him being in some legal trouble here in the US over beating up a girlfriend or something like that. Maybe some drug use too. Too bad--I always thought he was the cute one--he's still kind of handsome though--just looks like he's had a hard life.
These are not the same person. They may be related; they do resemble one another, but not the same! David Soul, from Starsky and Hutch fame, also played Clark's father on Smallville. He hasn't changed that much.

He apeared in Jerry Springer - The Opera, over here (remember he was a singer too). He has been in lots of British TV programmes. The man in Smallville was NOT David Soul. It's a long time since I watched it, and I can't remember the man's name, but he's nothing like David Soul.
Just looked him up, and his name was John Schneider. You could have done the same, instead of making yourself look foolish. One thing people like even less than a know-it-all is a know-it-all who actually knows nothing, but insists that they are right and others (who really are right) are wrong.
