Arachnophobes close your eyes now.

I've never liked spiders. I've always dreaded them getting tangled in my hair with their webs. The huge one I saw in the bathroom mirror crawling up the front of my nightdress when I was in my mid-teens produced a scream that is still echoing round the world.

When I started gardening, I foundI could tolerate spiders better, as long as they were not in danger of getting on me.

A couple of months ago, on two occasions, I picked up a spider because there was no alternative. Now, with my new-found bravery, I find I love the look of really big, hairy spiders, and I want to touch one.

But then, they don't scuttle around at breakneck speed and lurk under the bed waiting to creep on you in your sleep.

They say most people swallow a spider in their sleep at some time in their lives.

Sweet dreams!

mYSISTER KEEPSSPIDERS. tARRANTULAS ACTUALLY. hE'S CRREPY ENOUGH BUT THEY SHED THEIR SKIN BY SPLITTING THE TOP AND CRAWLING OUT. zeVERYONE SHOULD HAV ETHAT EXPERIENCE BURNED IN THEIR BRAIN.

Here is the US its the little spiders that can hurt you and even kill you, the brown recluse and the black widow. When I see a spider I capture him with a glass and piece of cardboard and take him out to a tree. They do eat bugs after all. I like your colored spider but no touching, YUK.

When I see a spider, it dies swiftly and violently.....no ifs, ands, or buts.

With as many spiders as I get in my apartment in the fall, I've probably swallowed more than one by now! LOL

It's not spiders I have a problem with, as can be seen by the number of cobwebs in my house..live and let live and all that :-)

Snakes on the other hand..no, no, no, no , no

I'm OK with spiders,it's the damn to hell scorpions and millipedes (or is it the centipedes) that make me crazy. They are poisonous and very painful if you're "stung". Ughhh, me no likey.
On the other hand, your spider pix are lovely.

Get it off me...GET IT OFF ME!!!!!!

BASRIC, you are too kind. We bought a bug sucker vacuum that has a long wand so you never have to get close to the critter. It's worth it's weight in gold.

I had an unfortunate incident with a spider,(well, it was VERY unfortunate for the spider!) which had crawled into my underwear while I was taking a shower. Being part 'bat', I don't like lights, so I got dressed in the dark, as usual. When I went for a pee a little later, I was quite surprised to find the corpse of a spider in my crotch (may it rest in peace). That kinda cured me of my previous terror of the things. I now try and capture them in a glass to put them outside where possible!
