77 Years On

In 1936 the great Fred Perry won the Wimbledon men's tennis championship for the third time. In between there have been British women's champions. There have been male hopes - Bobby Wilson, Roger Taylor, Mark Cox, John and David Lloyd, Andrew Castle, Tim Henman. But not until today Has a Brit again won the men's. Congratulations Andy Murray. Andy's early life included being a pupil at Dunblane School when a gunman shot dead a class of 5 and 6 year olds. I can't imagine living any kind of a life after an experience like that.

I didn't watch the last game, too nervous..however all my neighbours (and Jim) were watching..so I heard he'd won anyway...the joys of tv watching combined with open windows :)

I am pleased for him, though..he's fought hard to get where he is today

He was at that school when it happened? I remember that. Wow.

Not really a Murray-ite, but he certainly deserved to win that match and lift that trophy.
