No-one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Come on people, get real! I've known this size 15 guy 3 weeks, he's in his 20s, and supports a child in my class. I'm his immediate boss! Not only sexual harrassment, but dirty-old-womanism if I ask him if his dick's in proportion with his feet! Anyway, he's got a very skinny arse in baggy jeans, and no evidence out front of any excessive bulge. Wanting to KNOW is NOT the same as wanting to ASK!

He leaves tomorrow. Next week he starts work answering letters at the Department of Health. Next spring he goes off to Japan, Thailand and some other exotic place or other. So asking would do no lasting harm - except he'd probably die of embarrassment, and I wouldn't be far behind him. So we are all going to have to wonder.

By the way, my opera singer ex-boyfriend was 6'4" and only had size 9 0r 10 feet (US 10 or 11), and he was very well-endowed, so feet aren't really a guide. I think it's a rumour started by men with big feet but small dicks.

I don't believe it!

I have a young man working with me at present (next week he becomes a civil servant) over whose feet I am constantly tripping. Today I asked him what size they are. (Hold your breath) 14!

Only in US sizes that's 15!!!. He's 6'4" and has a nice enough face. He's young and skinny. There's no contest, of course. But size 15 US!

Should I ask him if he's in proportion?

And now...

...for something slightly different.

These are not the best close-ups or the pictures with the sweetest expressions. They are the kinds of pictures that I don't normally post because they have strange angles or expressions. Then, of course, there are the hands. (Heaves a huge sigh).

Toothless Pedant

On Sunday a particularly tasty toffee sucked a crown right off a tooth. I had to eat the rest of the packet (33% extra free) on the other side of my mouth!

On Monday I phoned the dentist. He was just back from holiday (he always is - when he's not actually on holiday) so he was fully booked up. But his nurse phoned today with an appointment after school to get it stuck back in.

So I had to wait a couple of hours till I could eat. I passed the time fruitfully by emailing The Today Programme (BBC Radio 4's most important and influential organ - NO JOKES) to point out in proper pedant Disgusted Of Tunbridge Wells style, that there was a slight problem with their report on the theft of ecclesiastical lead, and the presenter's introduction to it. The lead is on church roofs. NOT "rooves". Hoof - hooves. Roof - roofs. What ever happened to the Queen's English?

These people interview the Prime Minister, for goodness' sake. I'm sure HE'd know the difference...

Post 1100

Vincent may have one of the most rightful lives ever, but it doesn't prevent him showing empathy with young Lisa. And looking beautiful to boot.

Nothing beats Bobby reaching up and showing off his broad back and shoulders.

I want to nuzzle his neck.

Just look at those eyelashes.

The beautiful hands... The stunt hands are very much in evidence in this episode, with bulbous veins and short, bitten nails on stumpy thumbs. Not like these fine, smooth appendages.

A smile!

Talina Balsam is in the credits, so I imagine this must be her. Twenty years ago she was Mrs George Clooney. Can't see it.

Lips to kiss.

Eyebrows.

Val's just waiting for me over there, I mustn't be late.

Love!

Ah!

A dream in two parts

A couple of weeks ago I had a dream about my long-dead parents giving me a nice scooter as a present - a Vespa or a Lambretta in shiny black. Unusually, I remembered the dream when I woke up.

Last night I dreamt part two. I got the scooter out of the spare room because I'd decided to ride it into work, despite not knowing how to ride it. I checked that it worked (hadn't put in any fuel though) and loaded my bags into the various receptacles, but luckily didn't actually get to take it out on the road before I woke up. Obviously I remembered this dream, too.

It it normal to continue a dream like this, weeks apart? Or have I finally lost my mind?

Serif Off - D'Onofrio On

Serif - my new swearword. I bought their PhotoPlus and PagePlus in May for a bargain price, with promises of how it would help me achieve what I wanted on my new Vista computer. The photo program repeatedly crashed the machine, so I took it off.

Today I decided to play around with it on my old computer. Not only does it NOT do what it says on the box - it doesn't even do what it tries to guide you through in the manual. So no quirky effects on my Vincent pictures today, just a celebration of Mr Sexy's performance in Phantom, which was on last night.

Not Forgotten

My family appears to have come through two world wars unscathed. Only three members on the British side was of an age to be conscripted in either one. I've never been quite brave enough to ask my German relatives whether we lost anyone on that side. Germany's role in the two wars is an open sore for them.

In WW1 my paternal grandfather was listed in the enemy aliens register with the comment "nothing against". His brother Christian, however, was a more recent immigrant, and his wife Lina (my grandmother's niece) was visiting relatives in Germany when war was declared. Her daughter Edith was with her. Christian and the boys remained at their bakery in London, which was smashed up by anti-German protesters.

This picture is of Christian and Lina before the war, with their children.

Christian and the boys were interned in an enemy alien internment camp at Knockaloe (pronounced nok-ay-low) on the Isle of Man, off the north-west coast of England. The boys, not yet teens, were sent home alone through war-torn Europe with luggage labels tied round their necks.

This is a postcard of some internees. Christian is bottom right, with his chair back-to-front.

This is a Christmas card Christian sent to my grandparents in 1916. Like the postcard it was produced in the camp by the internees.

While Christian was behind the wire, two of his nephews were fighting for Britain in Salonika. Many internees had sons fighting for Britain, but it made no difference to their internment.

Christian and Lina were reunited when Christian was exchanged for some injured British soldiers before the end of the war. He had aged considerably, as this picture shows.

There was a fourth child in the 1920s, and rather than return to Britain, the family went to Canada, where I visited their descendents last summer. Although some family members on both sides of the Atlantic were in the allied forces during WW2, none was lost.

Linda, pictured above on the lake beside her Canadian home, is Christian and Lina's granddaughter, one of the nine children their youngest son Albert produced with his wife Betty, who is now in her 80s. After 80 years, all arms of the family are finally in touch, all the bitter conflicts of the past forgotten.

Help! Again

I recorded Help! off the telly last week, and when it came out this week, of course I bought it. My class wanted to watch a film for their enrichment class, so I'm showing it to them. Their verdict so far - it's great fun!

The Fab Four's talents entertain another generation.

It's true that one autistic boy didn't get it and wailed loudly, much to the annoyance of the others. But in the end even he settled down to enjoy it in his own unique way.

In more Depths

Please forgive the quality of the caps. It's very difficult to get exactly the shot you want with the HD discs, as you can't "step back" to get the best still. I'll recap with the ordinary DVD which should solve the problem. (See? With dear Eliza in the driving seat, we even get a choice of formats!)

Sorry, Bobby, The Dip doesn't work with corpses.

I thought the wave away was only used on those in authority.

Long Tall Bobby.

I love it when Bobby has to walk behind two people because he's so tall.

An expression we all know and love.

STUBBLE!

Bobby likes to feel his stubble - so would I!

Just look at the LENGTH of that middle finger!
