Vincent's Small Part

Is it his smallest? I bought Brooklyn's Finest yesterday. I wonder which part is smaller? At least in JFK he didn't die!

I know the words "Vincent" and "small part" don't go together. If we had our way, his part would always be huge. I volunteer to help it grow.

Cute Kitties

I just loaded a cd of old pictures on to this computer, and practised uploading to Photobucket. There are some really sweet pictures of my cat Dandy in some silly positions, plus Jaspa in a drawer.

Gerkin' Around

I still think he ought to release "18 Wheels of Christmas" as a Christmas record.

Why do I do these things to myself?

Well, here I am with the new computer. I've managed to install McAfee, and getting online only took a few attempts and a phonecall to my provider (they are always brilliant, luckily). Getting used to the keys and Windows 7 will take a bit longer. Maybe a year or two.

I sent myself an email with the shortcuts to my favourite blogs and sites, so I can get them back quite easily. Eventually - there's a very long list!

I can't remember how to get on to my work email, which could be a problem. Meanwhile it's getting close to bedtime, but do I have the strength to log off and leave the rest till tomorrow?

Time to say Goodbye

Don't worry. Not to me, or Vincent.

To the pink Sony computer.

Marks and Spencer have still not dealt with my complaint, which now includes just about every level of the so-called customer service provision within the company.

But one lone person has said he will refund the money I paid for the computer in July 2009. Tomorrow it goes back to the store forever.

I have saved everything I can find on to my spare hard drive. I have bought a new computer. The retailer has put a bunch of stuff on to the new one for me.

I ended up with another HP. They are a good company with good customer support, and even though PCWorld, where I've bought the new one, is about to be "exposed" on a TV programme Watchdog (in five minutes, in fact) I have never had a problem with my local store, and have purchased an extended service pack to go with the new machine.

The good things about it are more than I can tell you ('cos most of them went right over my head!) but it does have 6.5 hours battery life, and unlike the Sony can use AnyDVD so I can play all my foreign DVDs on it.

Thank you all for your advice on makes. A Dell was the winner amongst you, but it would have taken too long to get one ordered. Fujitsu were not available. I won't touch Toshiba (once bitten...) but your advice made me feel more secure, somehow.

All I have to do now is download all my programmes and upload all my pictures and documents.

Shit!

Unexpectedly Sexy

As only Vincent could be in this look.

Posthumous Python

The Posthumous Collection was on this evening on the newly revamped Hallmark CHannel, now known as Universal, and with a giant, heavy watermark in the top left-hand corner even worse than the old one.

Anyway, I noticed something that, for some incomprehensible reason, has never jumped out at me before. How did that happen?

Any Suggestions?

My computer woes are drawing towards their end - but not with the resolution I wished for.

After the couriers failed to collect my computer last Wednesday, but claiming they had called and got no answer, I booked a new appointment for today, from midday.

When I got to my student's house, his mother told me they'd actually called at her house on Thursday. They admitted that the day before they'd called at the house opposite! She told them the appointment had been rebooked for today.

I took her son on his regular visit to a special school for the morning, and she took her new dog for a walk early specifically to be home in time for the collection. She arrived home at least 15 minutes before time, only to find they'd already called for real and actully left a card. She phoned me at school and gave me the card number and the phone number, and I tried to call them. At the other end, there was no recorded choice or my problem - which was that I wated them to call back while they were still in the area. No way to speak to a human being at all.

Back at home, I called the tech line and...

...THERE WAS NO ANSWER!

Finally I admitted defeat and called the branch where I bought the machine. A man there took all the details and listened to the tale of woe. He went off to make some enquiries, and called me back to suggest that I return the computer and get a refund, as he could not get a guarantee from the courier firm that they could even stick to a promised am/pm appointment. As soon as I can find some time, that's what I'll do. Bu I want to find a replacement first, and get as much stuff copied over as possible.

So, any supggestions as to a reliable laptop with good storage capacity? I'll never buy another Toshiba, and I've heard bad things about Acer, but apart from Samsung and HP (not toention this Sony) I don't know anything about any makes and their qualities, so any input from you, my kind readers and friends, would be most welcome. If I thought a Macbook would do all the things I want it to I'd be tempted to go for one of those, but it just feels too alien to me.

Magnificent Max
