Happy Birthday NHS
Today is the 65th birthday of our beloved National Health Service.
Sadly, thanks to this government, it will struggle to make any further birthdays as anything other than a private business for the profit of the government's rich friends.
Well, Judith, as someone who needed the NHS badly during the Labour years, I remember suddenly being able to get appointments at the GP without waiting two weeks, and I had my hip replacement under Patient Choice in half the previous waiting time (six months instead of a year, which was just about the right time for my degree of joint degradation). All gone now, more to leave after it. And though some money gets squandered, at least it isn't just going to pay shareholders and foreign companies at our expense, like the railways and utilities. Every day I think, Fuck Thatcher.
I don't think Labour looked after it all that well..
ReplyDeleteI wish we had national health care. My state requires it and since i'm poor, I don't have to pay anything except a small co-pay for prescriptions.

ReplyDeleteFair point Val....
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated 48th Birthday to Kathryn Erbe ( Alex Eames ).
ReplyDeleteI am thankful every day for the NHS, they've looked after my mother pretty well over the years, more so as she gets older and more problems come up.
ReplyDeleteI dread to think how we would be cared for if we had the 'health insurance' system
