The Moors Murderers - Pure Evil

Back in the mid 1960s Britain was shaken by the discovery that a pair called Ian Brady and Myra Hindley had tortured and murdered three children. Their victims were buried on Saddleworth Moor, near Manchester.

Ultimately it became clear that they had five victims, but the body of one, Keith Bennett, has never been recovered. Hindley died in prison in 2000, and Brady is in a mental hospital because he wants to starve himself to death, so he has to be force fed daily (hope it really hurts). Winnie Johnson, the mother of Keith Bennett, repeatedly asked Brady to tell her where her son's body was, so that she could bury him properly. He has never given her any hope.

Then a regular prison visitor, when being interviewed by a TV crew, dropped the bombshell that he had given her a sealed letter, which she thought contained the whereabouts of Keith Bennett's remains. It was to be given to Keith's mother after Brady died, to give her some relief.

It took the TV company 10 days to tell the police. It took the police 2 weeks to do anything about it. Meanwhile Winnie Johnson was in a hospice with terminal cancer, and had slipped into a coma. She died on Friday after 48 years of torment, without realising her wish of burying her son.

Brady knew she was ill. He knew the authorities wouldn't let him return to prison to starve himself to death. He just wanted to torment this poor woman to keep her in his power, to make her a further victim of his evil.

The police have searched unsuccessfully for the letter.

I hope Brady gets a really nasty but slow terminal illness, that they give him no relief, and that he dies in agony after months or years of suffering. The man is evil incarnate.

  1. They both should have been hung at the time of their crimes...This is something I can't discuss as it makes me very angry..I know what some of the police went through as they listened to the tapes Brady and Hindley had recorded while commiting their Crimes.

  2. If they'd been hanged, Judith, winnie wouldn't have been the only one unable to bury her child. They helped the police locate another body in the 1980s.

  5. I had never heard about this case until a couple of days ago. What monsters to torture the Mother of a child they killed. Not that I particularly believe in Hell but, if there is a Hell, I hope there is an especially cruel place in Hell for them.

  7. What a horrible waste of space he is; too bad someone hasn't killed him while he is in the mental hospital. :( I never heard of these murders.

I remember reading about these crimes. One of the mothers wrote a heartbreaking poem to her daughter who these monsters had killed. And them taping the murders has given me nightmares..

  11. I'm glad the bastard is suffering with the forced feeding, hope he lives a long time!

As for the woman advocate, she really is a sucker. How can she defend him in any way? How can she not see how she is being manipulated and dominated?

He and Hindley absolutely should have been hanged, or impaled on a large spike, but since they weren't, I hope he lives to be at least 120, and is force-fed through his bottom, very slowly. I seem to recall he lead the police a merry dance all over Saddleworth Moor not so many years ago, all to no avail of course. I doubt even he can remember where they buried poor Keith, but he likes the control of making people THINK he does. If anyone deserves the tag 'Monster', it's Ian Brady. I'm not even sure he's human.

  14. This is the first I'm hearing of this horrible incident. Unfortunately, the man will most likely never feel remorse and continue to be manipulative until the day he dies. Probably a true sociopath, and they're very scary people.

  16. Never occurred to me Maui - but I bet the L&O people did it on purpose, like the Dr Harold Shipman lookalike in the last scene of the DAW episode.
