Happy Birthday Charlie

It can't have escaped many people's notice that today is Charles Dickens' 200th birthday.

Have a great one, Charlie boy.

Sadly, I'm really not fond of your prose...

  2. I'll be honest, I've read Dickens and it's always been a stuggle. A Christmas Carol was the only easy read. But happy birthday to Charlie!

I think the only book of his I ever managed to get through was 'Dombey and Son'... OK, now you're going to tell me that's not one of his ;0)

  6. "Great Expectation" has always been my favorite. For all the rest I either watched the movie or read the "Cliff Notes". Had to get through high school english some how.

  7. I escaped, Vikeau, my set books were a couple of Shakespeares, some Chaucer, some Byron, and Under Milk Wood. No Dickens in sight.

  9. I've never understood the attraction of Dickens, his books are a struggle for me so I don't bother with them anymore

  10. Love "Oliver" the musical. I live on a square(a park). Some mornings its just so beautiful, it reminds me of Oliver and I'll skip down my steps singing "Who will Buy". Probably why nobody ever bothers me. Never read the novel. LOL
