Crappy Family

Apparently, this episode - one of the darkest, in my opinion - was fine for 5pm transmission!

  1. I can't put my finger on this episode at all.

  2. I know this episode...the one with the adopted Russian boys. Season three with Bishop.

I don't like this episode at all, probably for personal reasons. I've got experience with kids with attachment disorder and I really just don't like the way it was handled in this episode--the big focus on that random junk in the kid's pocket annoyed me.

But one of the things I was thinking as I was looking at these pics was the expressiveness of those hands with that face. I can always tell when he's horrified because he covers his mouth with an open hand for an extended second. A hand that's more closed over the mouth means he's thinking hard. At least, that's what my extended examination of episodes have led me to believe. ;-) The closed fist by the mouth is more thoughtful--or lighter thoughts, anyway.

  3. I agree, Val, one of the darkest and saddest episodes ever. Strange that it would be cleared for 5pm viewing. On the other hand, the last photo makes me cheer right up!

  4. It really is a hard episode to watch. Especially given the beautiful singing that the one boy does. I did divorce cases for about 5 minutes before realizing I really couldn't be a party to parents' use of their children as pawns to get back at one another. I no longer do any type of family law. And this episode just re-enforced my basis against parents and custody cases. If anything I'd represent the children.

  5. You're right that's strange because this episode is very dark. Not my favorite episode because of the poor children.
