Well, what fun! On Friday I duly presented myself at the hospital for my surgery. The first hour was spent seeing physios, anaesthetists, surgeons and nurses while all was explained to me. They would put a block in my neck - which means injecting me so that the arm was completely dead. I could be sedated rather than have a general, but the anaesthetist was persuasive. The operation site was rather close to my head, and might cause me too much mental disturbance if I was aware of what was going on just inches away, not to mention watching it on a screen.
So I surfaced very slowly around midday. By 3pm I had polished off some toast and tea, and was ready to go home. I'd always insisted I would walk, but people kept trying to change my mind, even though the hospital only only takes 10 minutes to get to/from. So I got my way.
However, the dead arm was truly dead. I had no idea where my hand was in relation to the rest of my body. I had to put the chickies to bed, though, as my friend was dead to the world! And the next morning I had to get them up and out again. There were a few things that took two hands that I just couldn't achieve, but I went shopping on Saturday, and by Sunday I managed to put on and do up a bra single-handed (literally).
To be honest, the hand on the operated side is usable, but I'm probably using it too much, and with some weight attached, but as my friend slept most of Sunday with a headache I had no option but to get at it.
Today, realising there's very little I can't do alone, she has gone home. I'm hoping I haven't done damage to the operated area - I have been as careful as possible, honestly! - and now I'm raring to go.
So here's a does of Bobby to cheer us all up.

Well-there's nothing wrong with your vision. As usual, you find some beautiful Bobby shots.
Glad you are feeling better but please pace yourself-be safe in your rehab!
I'm glad to hear all went well with your surgery, please do take things slow and easy Val. Don't worry about posts here, just be careful.
BTW, beautiful post! Ohhh, and props to you for doing your bra up one-handed, I have enough trouble using two hands!
Glad you are back, but be careful. No sense un-doing what you just had done. Take care, you sound a little stubborn, like me! lol.
Take it easy - sometimes you THINK you feel better than you actually are.
Just gorgeous pix, Val! Be careful, take care, and have a speedy and complete recovery!
Val, I'm happy to see you back but you have to take care of yourself. Don't do something foolish : you need to be relax.
Welcome back...glad everything went well! You're stubborn just like me and I would've probably done everything just like you have. But, be careful so you don't end up back to the hospital for a repair!
Happy you're doing well, Val, but please take it slow. Hugs.
Glad you're home and feeling good Val...But take it easy!
