Does anyone know?

Recent events have got me wondering which is the oldest, longest-established VDO blog still posting, outside of TheReel, which I think I remember as being around when I happened on the scene.

I started V-blogging in April 2006. Eliza, and Diane and Tess, were already posting on their V-blogs, though Eliza moved hers and renamed it from Eliza's Place to the current Velocity of Vincent. Still, as far as I'm concerned it counts as being one of the first and oldest.

Others have been and gone, one notable one in a great deal of V-criticism and in favour of Criminal Minds. How does someone who's been a fan of Vincent D'Onofrio suddenly come up with comments like "Mandy (Patinkin) rocks"?

So, any ideas of who gets the gong for the longest-serving bringer of V-joy to the Vixen community?

  1. Eliza was the first V blog I discovered and what a great day that was! When I started blogging all of the pictures I posted were from Eliza, I think that's how a lot of us got our start.

Sadly thereel is no where near the site is used to be :(

I think thereel is the longest established. Tess and I met on the dear old 'Vague Vincent D'Onofrio' which was eventually trolled into oblivion, poor thing. I think we first met at 'Molly's Val (is that still there?). I remember Sirranulphnet from my early days - still out there I think - and of course, Eliza's Place in the days when Eliza supplied just about everyone with screen caps.

Many have arrived, many have left, but some of us have stayed steadfast loyal and true to the One and Only Vincent ;0)

  3. My first introduction to the V.blogs was Eliza's and Vals. but I did'nt know how to leave a comment. I needed a yahoo email address to do that and I had'nt got one. As I got the hang of doing more things on the internet I was able to join in and leave comments etc. And I have loved every minute of it!!! So thankyou all you bloggers for feeding my passion of Vincent.x

  4. Yes, The Vague, and Sir Ranulph were interesting and useful for a beginner. Molly's died of lack of interest from Molly - or possibly her ill health. She kept starting new pages for us when the old ones slowed down through heavy posting, but the last one froze when it got to 11 comments, with no comments box at the bottom. Despite sending several emails, those of us who remained got no reply. It lost its identity for a while when a bunch of people transferred over from my Yahoo group, but we got it back, then lost it all over again. :(

Yes, Diane, that's where we met, and a mine of information you were. JoJo, too, started her V-life over there.

  5. I think mine was one of the first, but it came about by accident. Anyone remember the Bobby blog? I was pointed at that by someone and as you needed an id to comment I ended up with a blog..it seems such a long time ago now, and everything has been trial and error. A tv detective inspired me to teach myself how to do all I can do now, from barely being able to turn on the computer :-)

  6. When I climbed into my "time machine" recently, I found a site that was around back in Dec. 2003. It was run by women called Trish, Karen,Chantal,Cookie,Maureen,LRose, Belle and Stella.

    It was called

    www.originalvincentdonofriosite.com

    It's not still around though.

For me, it all began with Eliza! But, she wasn't just my "in" to the VDO online world, but quite instrumental in my connecting with other fans that I have since formed friendships with.

  7. I never heard of the Bobby blog, Eliza. But the Original sounds familiar, Heather.

I tell you what - let's not talk about the Forums, eh?

  8. Life and Vincent was the first blog I found and I was like OMG so many cool people there! But I was too shy to leave any comment at that time.

  9. Val, this is the link to the Bobby blog, although it's long since finished

    http://detectivebobbygoren.blogspot.com/

It was very well written, and spawned an Alex blog, a Logan blog, and a few others

  10. Yours was the first I found ... like Jazzy, too shy to say anything. But oh so happy to see that so many others had great taste in men.

And give me Joe Mantegna any day over Mandy Patinkin, but clearly VDO is in a whole other universe.

  11. a girl called Tanya, a journalist, was the author of the goren blog and the Alex blog was hers too - jessica was the writer of the Logan blog an English professor at an American university - we were all friends

eliza and I started around the same time - it doesn't mean that because some don't have time to blog or they like other actors too that they love vincent and all his characters any the less than those who are lucky enough to have time to blog and chat on forums

  12. HAHAHAHAHA Nice shot at that old blog that I also remember, as it was the first Vincent blog I visited. Eliza, The Cat and Thereel are the longest ones I remember. Then you'd be next Val, for sure. I met most of you on the Molly blog and then went to your individual blogs.

As the "newbie" on the block I can't be more proud to be amongst such wonderful and supportive V-sisters.
Thank you to all of you.
    VDO FOREVER!!!

  14. I have been surfing through all your blogs for ages but have only recently worked out how to post a comment (I didn't have a blogger account or google email). The first site, other than the Reel that I found was Eliza's and then Val's and from there, I found loads more. All I can say is whoever came first - I am so glad that everyone keeps it up.I have gotten so many gems of pictures, news articles, video links etc from these blogs, along with the sense that there are other likeminded people out there - people with good taste and a good sense of humour, who have no shame in drooling across the web! I can't go a day without flicking through all my favourite links. Long live the internet and long live VDO!

  16. Whoops - sorry, somehow managed to post that twice. I obviously still don't know what I'm doing!

  17. I DO remember it now you show me the way, Eliza! I just never thought of it as the Bobby blog.

Ann, sweetheart, we know that being a fan of someone or something else does not preclude someone from adoring Vincent (like you your lovely self, for example), but the person we have in mind did insult Vincent a lot, and was nasty to some Vixens.

As for frequency of blogging, well, when you don't have time, WE are the losers, as your posts are always such a treat. Any chance of another chapter of that After Major Case story for us? Mwah, mwah!

  18. Glad to hear from you, Becky. I went across to your blogs, but you don't seem to have posted much, and not recently, so there wasn't much point in commenting. That media one though, wow, that got pretty complex. I like to stretch my mind. (Beats stretching my body...unless I'm beside Vincent ;-D )

  19. Hi Val

Thanks for the welcome. Crikey, I forgot those blogs were still up there! Lol! I don't post anything to them - they weren't for fun, we were asked to do it as part of my masters degree. I've graduated now and so haven't posted anything new. Maybe someday i will start a new one up - for fun rather than work!

Haha, I wouldn't mind stretching out beside Vincent either!

  20. Val thanks for your sweet words - of course I know who you are talking about but that was so long ago - isn't it time to move forward and put that behind all of you - life's too short

I would love to write again - I haven't written a word since June I think - for now I've moved in with mother to nurse her back to health - no computer here and no wifi so I left my laptop at home - just got my phone!

I know I have a lot to catch up on when I get a free day :))
