I'm so sorry, my darlings

I just didn't believe. How could a fox snatch you in a few minutes? It was 3.30 in the afternoon. I let you out then left you alone to do a couple of things indoors. I was on the toilet when I heard your distress. I couldn't get outside quickly enough.

Daisy, you were missing. Rosie, I found you dying. A fox had done its worst.

Only Poppy was left. I phoned the rescue people for advice. They said Poppy would not be happy alone.

I went to the garden centre to buy you a friend, but you just seem to want to bully her.

It's all my fault. Now I believe. But for you it's too late.

Goodbye my sweet little darlings. You thought you'd found heaven. Maybe now you really have. (If only I believed that.)

  2. OMG, Val, I'm so, SO sorry!! How horrible for you! I am very much hoping that Poppy will accept her new "sister" in time, but I know that you will have a worse time getting over this. Please know that I keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Not your fault Val. Foxes will do what foxes like to do. They must be about the only wild things that don't kill to eat, but just kill everything, whether they're planning on eating it or not. Our next door neighbours had their pet rabbit decapitated by one of the bastard things.

  7. OH! Val, I'm so sorry to hear this disastrous news! But NOT your fault, it's what we call 'nature'. Apparently Mr Fox had his eye on your girls and was gonna get them sooner or later. :(((

  9. Val, I am so sorry about your poor chicks. I know they had a grand time in their new home and felt loved and cared for. You rescued them from the hell they were in but Nature rules out and the circumstances were out of your control. Their heaven was their last few weeks with you.

We are all sad right along with you because your stories and pictures endeared us to you and your chicks1

    Take care,
    Renee

OMG, Val! What sad news to read. I don't even know what I could say to make it any better. We are all thinking of you and hope you don't blame yourself. I am heart-broken for you and sending you my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry. Thank you for showing us what a good heart you have in thinking of the little creatures on Earth, and I am sure they had enjoyed their freedom up until this tragic accident.

  13. Val, I am so so sorry... Please know all of us animal lovers are sending you big hugs. Bless your little chicks - at least they had a bit of happiness before that dreadful bastard got them. Remember it is NOT your fault and that you saved them from a much worse fate and gave them the love and peace they deserved. Hopefully Poppy will get used to her new friend and make a new sisterhood.
