Beryl Cook died yesterday aged 81. She is well-known for her pictures of comfortably-padded people, especially ladies (and I do mean ladies, not women, though in her hands, ladies are not quite what eveyone thinks ladies should be) in gently humoorous situations. Her pictures make terrific greetings cards.
Thank you for this.
ReplyDeleteI'd not heard of her before but I really love her work! I like the lady leaning over to gather her poker chips. The ladies she drew remind me a lot of my grandmother.
ReplyDeleteI liked the one of the woman in the fur coat "flashing" the uptight looking businessman. She used to poke a lot of run at sexual stereotypes.
ReplyDeletei wanna have these red shoes!
ReplyDeleteVery distinctive and fun art. Gotta love her work!
