When I ordered VOG on December 29th, it was supposed to arrive by January 16th. When it didn't, I emailed the seller asking for a progress report. They said it must be delayed by customs at my end.
It arrived on the 22nd, complete with a letter begging for 5 stars in my feedback. The label clearly showed that it hadn't been sent till January 8th - 10 days after I ordered it. I wrote again quoting the real reason for its lateness, but received no further correspondance. So I left feedback that reflected the actual situation, not the one the seller wanted me to.
Today I've received an email from them (the boss? I wonder, really) saying they are sorry, and will give me 33% discount if I delete my comments.
It isn't that much money, and I don't like being manipulated. If I follow their link and their instructions (funny how they have it off pat) there's no guarantee they'll then refund me anything.
What do YOU think I should do?
Do nothing.
ReplyDeleteCan I ask what exactly you said in your comments? I've been in somewhat similar situation a couple of times where there was a shipping issue, but item was awesome & fairly priced. I gave great feedback for everything but shipping, left good written stuff, then emailed seller with my thoughts. Once, I bought a Chanel lipstick & it came packed in a teeny tiny manila envelope, NO wrapping of any kind inside to protect it. After i emailed her, the seller thanked me for the insight, and gave me great feedback.
ReplyDeleteLet it go. Just ignore their email.
ReplyDeleteI agree, if I'm not happy, I don't leave feeback. Happlily when I bought VOG from the States (Amazon seller), it landed in a record breaking 4 days. I'd've given them 6 stars if I could!
ReplyDeleteHappLILY? See, told you I was pleased with 'em.
ReplyDeleteI think you should stand your ground...after all, your comments may just help prevent someone else from the same situation. It might be Ebay, but surely everyone is entitled to decent service. If it was a plumber who treated you this way,you wouldn't use them again, same goes for E-bay sellers.
ReplyDeletecan you tell I've had a couple of bad experiences?
Rant over,sorry...
One of my only two bad buying experiences involved winning an item and then receiving no communication whatsoever from the seller about how to pay for it. Normally, that would be no big deal, but the item was for a gift and I was severely irritated. And there were many 'fishy' things about the whole situation. So I filed a complaint with eBay and after the obligatory 30 day waiting period left negative feedback, at about the same time another person did also. Sure enough, right after that the seller emails me with somesort of sob story about how they were in a car accident and couldn't manage their account, but if I would just withdraw my feedback they'd get it all worked out for me. Well, the other person who left bad feedback got the same email and fell for it - withdrew their feedback and again received nothing but silence from the seller. So I emailed the seller again and told them very firmly I could not withdraw my feedback as there were simply too many things wrong with the situation. I never heard from them again... but the moral of the story is that I believe in leaving 100% honest feedback no matter what the situation, simply because it might save someone else a headache later on...
ReplyDeleteI think the question here is do you want to be honest, or do you want some money?
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't allow yourself to be manipulated by them, because if you give in, they'll be more likely to do it again, and maybe next time it'll be worse. There's also that "no guarantee that they'll be actually refunding."
Let them know that you want to be treated fairly. You paid for the service that they provide; you've held up your end of the bargain.
You did the right thing. No need to amend or change your actions or response. The reason eBay's feedback system exists is to promote good business practices and keep people honest. I have low tolerance for eBay sellers that take their sweet time delivering their product. It's ridiculous.
ReplyDeletei think you should leave your comments. they were completely dishonest w/ you and other people should know that they are not as respectable as they are maybe trying to seem. but that's just mho.
