Pigeon Post

Dear little (?) one-eyed Beano doesn't always come in on these sultry nights. This morning I opened the door into the conservatory (sunroom) and found him sitting there in all his innocence. The sliding door into the garden is broken and doesn't close properly, but the gap is only an inch or two wide. There is a catflap in from the garden and another into the house.

On the handle of the window, six feet off the ground, was perched a nervous-looking pigeon. It was too big to have come in through the gap, but surely it couldn't have come in through the catflap?

I ushered Beano into the house and shut the door, then opened the outer broken one and encouraged the pigeon out with a broom. When I went outside to inspect the area, I found a large selection of pigeon feathers scattered all around. Beano had caught the pigeon and brought it in through a catflap which is not much bigger than his sturdy old self.

Who said you need binocular vision to be a predator?

  1. Silly Beano! That pigeon must be part cat because he's used up one of his lives.....

And Beano sitting there looking like that cat that ate the canary....erm, pigeon...

  2. Well Beano apparently has a heart in that he didn't actually kill the pigeon! Good boy Beano!

  4. Sorry, Claire, he wouldn't have given killing it a second thought if he'd been able to reach it after it escaped!

Yeah Beano, gave it the old college try! Glad the pigeon survived though. Thanks for the picture of him Val. I love cats.
