Once in 400 Years

The last time there was a lunar eclipse that coincided with the winter solstice was 1638. It happened today at just after 7.40 am. I was up and ready.

It was cloudy.

Pretty cool eh? I wasn't sure we'd have clear enough skies to see it, and it takes an act of Congress to get me out of my warm bed in the middle of a cold winter night, so I didn't get up. I think it started here a little after 10:30 pm last night, and I was already in bed.

Did you shoot those pics?

Ditto that, JoJo...I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed, LOL.

No way, JoJo, I don't have the skills or equipment to shoot pictures like that. Especially through cloud...

Awesome pics! I was up all night and morning. I periodically went out on the deck and looked but unfortunately I live in Seattle and, well, stupid clouds.

I missed it too - apparently it won't happen again until 2097 or something, by which time I'll be WAY passed caring...

I was up most of the night, trying to get a glimpse in between the clouds. We saw a bit close to full eclipse, then, 2 million clouds totally blocked everything. Really annoying!
