Curious Coincidences

A Tale of Synchronicity?

There was the time I was on a tube train reading Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams (of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fame). I looked up from a passage about Schrodinger's Cat to see a man reading a book about Schrodinger's Cat.

Then there was the plane back from Canada after meeting family members whose parents had been raised in Lothian Road, Camberwell, London. I started reading a book, only to find that one of the characters was on her way to a flat in Lothian Road, Camberwell, London.

Today, with a couple of characters about to take off for Melbourne in a story set in 2007, I read this:

"As for the life jacket, that's a laugh, that is...Do you know how many passenger airliners in the entire history of aviation have ever successfully made an emergency landing on water?...Zero. Zilch. Nada. Not one."

"There's always a first time," Nicholl thought.

And so it was:

Even with the pictures reversed by Blogger.

The Insider

Not the best set of pictures these numbers have tossed up. But they are all still of Bobby.

Meerkats and Monkeys

A trip to the zoo? Unusual!
Actually, I was supposed to go with my friend, but she really didn't feel up to it. Her lovely little pedigree Abyssinian girl died on Monday. They took on a mother and son kitty a decade or so ago. The mother was a timid little thing, with a squint in one eye, possibly because of bullying by the other cats at the breeder's. Her son has never been without his mum, and is also distraught.
I think the animals at the zoo would have taken her mind of her sadness, but I understand that at times like that, you don't actually want to be diverted.
A couple of meerkats were taking advantage of the winter sunshine.

An opportunistic lion-headed tamarin had found a gap in a wooden post where insects might hide. She thrust in her little hand to try her luck. She was too quick for a focused picture...

...so when she climbed down a few feet I got a better one.

Crazy

Which is one thing we are NOT given the total wondrousness of the man we all love.

The Third Horseman

A great episode by any standards. But for some reason I have very few caps of it. So I had to add a couple of random ones to make up the numbers. All I can say is WOOF!

Magnificent Obsession

Wasn't that a Rock Hudson film?

Anyway, I've plugged this blog before: http://detectiverobertgoren.blogspot.com/

But in view of the nature of Anonymous Troll's rantings, I think a plug of her latest post is apposite.

She is, as usual, extremely erudite concerning matters of the psyche. Though Turkish, she writes English extremely well (much better than trolly dolly). She is studying in NYC. And she, like us, dreams longingly of Vincent as a sex god.

Fortunately, if the troll goes visiting, Derin doesn't allow comments. I bet she lets loose over here instead.

I'm ready for you!

Enemy Within

There is a really happy selection this time. I missed out on a raised forefinger by one, and it was tempting to cheat. As it was, I only have 279 pictures, so the last picture is - well, the last picture.

The Good Doctor

There's only one good close-up in this selection, so I added another at the end for good measure.

Wel, what are rules for but to be broken?

The Pardoner's Tale

There's no number 301 in this album, so I had to settle for the last photo in the album. The first one was a difficult capture. To get "the goods" you had to get the credits, too. Did I hear a complaint?

Didn't think so!

Poison

The pictures have come out pretty good again. Such a sweet baby face.
